I have a contractor style table saw with an open back and the motor hanging off the back. Is there any way to rig up dust collection on this type of saw without compromising motor cooling and belt issues?
For the back of your saw you could cutout and install one of these using rare earth magnets to secure it to the saw. The little swoop cutout on the RH side will enable you to tilt your blade without having to remove the cover
For the underside of the saw a setup similar to this one, could be made out of plywood and a toilet closet flange.
I have my saw setup using items similar to these and the dust collection works very well. I still get more dust than I would like on the top of the saw but that is the price I pay for using zero clearance throat plates.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the "John" and renamed it the "Jim". I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
