I just cut some new inserts for this saw. When i power up the saw, it sounds like the blade is scraping the side of the new insert. so i took the insert out, powered up the saw and the noise is still there. removed the blade and the noise is still there. took off the belt and the noise is still there. are there any bearings that could be going bad or should i look at the fan and see if it has come loose so that it is scraping the housing? thanks for any help

The fan is easy to check so start there. Bad bearings usually make a squeal and/or a loud "shush" noise.

Suggestion: make sure it's not the plastic belt guard housing coming off of and attached to the motor. Mine makes quite a bit of racket.

The motor fan blade on mine came loose about a year after I had the saw, so I had to tighten the set screw. Hope you have a set of metric allen wrenches.
