  • R4511 Shipping Crate - What did YOU use it for?

I am making an outdoor coffee table out of the large part this spring that will reside by the firepit out back... The small base I'm using as a base to stack firewood on, for said firepit.

So what did you all do with yours?

I think there is already a thread for this

I used mine to prop up a paver saw I was cutting garden wall blocks with. Not as fancy as a lot of people came up with, but worked for me (one of the feet on mine was pretty bent so it wouldnt stay straight if I wanted to use it for something nicer)

      Yep, there is.

Mine went into the recycle bin at work.

          Here's another thread on this:

I seem to remember yet another thread though.

Still got mine, sitting in the basement. The tile top table and scrap bin are winning at present.

I also noticed that the newer saw I got for my brother in law no longer used the same base for the cage. Instead of round metal tubes as feet there were 4x4 wood (MDF?) blocks bolted to the cage base.

The tubes are cooler, but the blocks were nice because the saw glided pretty easily along the floor of HD to get it to the forklift.

I'm thinking about using it for a stand for my drill press or belt/disc sander.

I may wrap it in PT plywood and turn it into an outside stuff bin, we'll see, i guess.

I got mine for Christmas and it had the wood block feet.

I put a 4x4' plywood on it. Instant assembly table! Just the right height too.

I have two, the old design and the new with the mdf skids. Been sitting in the back of the shop stacked up, though one has a piece of plywood on it to hold stuff temporarily. They will both end up in recycling as they are taking up too much room.

I was thinking about turning it into a welding cart, but I was just given a bunch of extruded aluminum angle and U channel that I am going to use instead

For an interim solution, I bought a piece of MDF and cut it in two. One for each frame, just a temporary table. Has worked really well. Using them as sawhorses as I write. I may never do anything with them more permanent than that. I might even snaffle the MDF one day for a project, and replace it later on, sometime never!

I have also thought if using the one part as the frame of an outfeed table

I put some large casters on the skids and turned it in to a plywood cart.
