    Re: R4511 Fence Faces

I purchased the material at Lowe's in the trim section. It is sold as if it were a board. I purchased a 6' x 3" x 1/2" board for about $10.00.

I purchase 3/4 x 6 pvc at menards, 10 feet for $12. Any know if you can route this and install a t slot track or just route in a t slot in it?

        Re: R4511 Fence Faces

I have 6.00"x6.00" x 5.0" long blocks of UMHW, at home.
I tried to rip them but I had to give up as my whole cabinet filed up with the fibers and they got in the motor, pulleys and everything else.
I made side of melamine instead.
Instead of drilling the sides, I prefer to double faces tape for mine.
I think that it looks cleaner.
I replaced the measuring tape with another one "stick on".
I would have prefered to use magnetic tape so that I can readjust it as necessary, but I could find one locally.

I also bought a piece of the PVC (3 1/2" wide). Only wanting it 1/2" above the stock fence, I ripped an inch along the length. While lining it up to mark for holes, the cut edge slipped into the miter slot and fit very well. Just to check the left miter slot, I tried to slip it in there, turning it over thus using the uncut edge. It did not fit, too wide. Then checked with a caliper and the edges of the board are indeed wider than the center. They bow out a bit about 1 inch from the edges.

So, can PVC boards be jointed and planed to flat and parallel?

I do not know about PVC but UMHW can be machined just like wood.
It is very easy to plane.

The PVC can be machined as easily as wood. I did not have the discrepencies in the material thickness as mentioned earlier.
