  • Curb Side Find

I found a set 4 Windsor style chairs with brace sitting at the curb for pickup. I just could not let them go to the dump. They will all need to be reglued and refinished. One chair has a cracked seat but all the rest have nothing broken. I have never picked up anything from the curb side before but just could not let these pass. Here are a couple pictures tell me what you think.

      Great find.

I had a similar set of chairs in daily use for over 40 years.

From what I can tell from the photos, they look to be made from maple with a "Salem Maple" finish.

The finish can be stripped but all of those crevasses will take a lot of attention, but the time and effort will be worth it.

In order to fix the seat, you should disassemble that chair so you can glue and clamp it. Use care taking apart the chair joints. Soften the glue before exerting pressure on the joints.

All the chairs will need to be disassambled since the joints are all loose. Got me a project to work on this spring now.
