  • Mobile Base for a 6" Jointer

Hey everyone. Just found this site and signed up this morning. With winter coming, LOML wants her parking place in the garage back.

I need a mobile base for my Rigid 6" jointer. Any suggestions?

Here a fairly simple to make mobile base:

    1. Two pieces of ply, cut to a size of your choice, then glued together.
    2. Two fixed casters. (Grizzly H0667)
    3. Two double locking swivel casters. Grizzly H0683)
    4. Orange or grey paint, depending on the age of your jointer.

~~Don't worry about old age; it doesn't last that long.

I made mine the same as Badger Dave suggests except that I found that 4 swivel casters made it easier to move, for me anyway. I just put a couple coats of Danish oil on mine. Easier than painting. I do have some flourescent orange paint.....nah.

GENERAL INTERNATIONAL MACHINERY MODEL 50-025 COSTS ABOUT $50 AND IS APPLICABLE TO MANY DIFFERENT SIZE TOOLS FROM A TABLE SAW TO A JOINTER. I USE IT ON MY JP0610. IT IS VERY SOLID,WELL BUILT AND RATED A BEST BUY BY ONE THE WOODWORKING MAGAZINES.
