  • R4511 Fence Faces

I picked up some UHMW at Peachtree Woodworking in order to build fence faces for the R4511. The stock fence needs some beefing up.

I'd be interested to hear what others have done, especially in terms of the dimensions used for the fence faces and how the faces were mounted (type of bolt/screw or adhesive, etc.).

I used 1/2" UHMW 3" high and carriage bolts thru the existing holes in the fence.

Right now I've just got some 3/4" hardwood. I probably need to pull them off and run them through the jointer again and square them back up.

Looking to get the some uhmw, but, I'm worried about getting pieces that are warped. I worked in plastics for a few years right out of college and uhmw is pretty porous. It will swell and warp, a bad piece would be difficult to correct.

Anyone have problems with just using the 3 holes in the stock 4511 fence? Have you run these through a jointer?
