  • Wife spent $300.00 on a light!!

    Hello all,
My wife just spent $300.00 on a light fixture for our Inglenook(Craftsman Home Parlor/Den).
This opens the door for me to make a equal amount, + or - a few bucks, purchase.
    Any suggestions?
Lathe, TP and Router Table are at the top of my list.
    Thanks for any input,
    Rob J

Of the choices you gave, I'd have to say a router table, but I'm a router nut.

To get you set up with some fine bits, before the sale is over, visit http://mlcswoodworking.com/ and check out the 1/2" shank 66pc millenium set of bits. I ordered one, at 2.58 a bit, it's a heck of a deal for high quality bits!

            Thanks Woody,
A 66 bit set for 170.00!! I ordered one today.
I like the Sears stationary table, with the Rockler table second. Any thoughts??

I looked at a lot of tables, from 99 bucks and up. Bought a few, took em back, Rocklers included. I seen nothing at Sears I would consider. Had the opertunity to try several others as well. What I ended up with was the JessEm Table top because the table top was solid phenolic. There is very few things in this world I dislike, MDF is at the top of the list though, which most table tops are made of.

Now granted, you've got only 300 to offset the wifes purchase, you'll have to coax her into a another lamp to justify the JessEm's price. Or any other high quality system.

A read somewheres once, to the effect of: The pain of a purchase of a high quality tool is suffered but once; But the struggles with infearer tools is pain suffered everyday.

Trial and error with a couple of major purchases blundered, I have that thought inlayed into my head forever.
