I would like to know whether vertical mounting pipe on the work table of the Ridgid DP1550 drill press is standard size (slightly less than 1-7/8" diameter)? I found this part at the RidgidParts.com site and need to check whether it will work on my drill press before purchasing. Thanks in advance.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. The measurement you ask about is most likely in mm than imperial units. What measuremening equipment do you have? A micrometer maybe or a rule graduated in mm?

You could also measure the circumference accuractly and with some simple math find the diameter of you DP table post. As far as the diameter of the DP1500 I can't hel;p as I do not own one.

I take it you are looking for a replacement for a missing or damaged table on your current Drill Press. What is the make and model. With more info we can give more meaningful help.

My DP1550 is 47mm diameter (measured from underneath).

Is there such a thing as a standard for these? Clearly it's a standard size for the DP1550!

For those who might be interested, Grizzley sells an adapter which will let you mount various vises to your DP.

http://www.grizzly.com/catalog/2010/Main/247 (see bottom of page 247)

I use one with an angle vise bolted to it. All I have to do is pop out the stock DP table and drop the vice in and I am ready to go. They're only about $20 each.
