  • R4511 switch finicky

I noticed the switch on my R4511 started acting up the other day. After I switch it on, nothing, if I play with the yellow lockout buttion a little, wiggle it, and it will kick on. I've tried inserting the lock button both directions same result.

Anybody else seen this? Any suggestions?

Yes, I have seen this a couple of times. It is imperative that you get it fixed or replaced. I have heard of one saw that actually shorted and started running on it's own so this can be a serious safety hazard, you need to get this addressed.

I found the issue. There is a small rubber gasket in the switch, I'm guessing it's intended as a dust guard, that was dislodged. This was keeping the toggle switch from tripping.

I tried to reorient the gasket correctly, but, ended up tearing it slightly. I ended up just removing it and plan to blow out the switch periodicly. I would rather have the thread of dust collecting in the switch, then not have confidence when flipping the switch.
