  • Dust Collection, How Much CFM?

I am wondering how much CFM I need on a dust collector. I plan to only run one machine at a time. My shop is a two car gargage so the duct lenghts wouldn't be to outragously long. I was thinking of runnig at least 4" duct.

    Thank you
    Tim

    Tim,

Check out the "Penn State Dust Collectors" thread about 15 threads down. Alot of good info there.

      Tim,

Check out this page here. It also has lots of good info.

      http://www.airhand.com/designing.asp

I have a Grizzly 1029 and I used 4" PVC Sch 40 and regret not using 6". The other side is that 6" is much more expensive and takes up more space. Down the road, if you decide to upgrade your DC, you will find that it is cheaper to upgrade just the DC than to upgrade the plumbing or both.

      Hope this helps.
