I've tried drill press mortising with not real great results (not with a DP mortiser, but with a forstner bit); but I haven't really gone to great lengths to get a primo mortise on DP; however I had great results using a router table -- got a nice slip fit. Just left the corners rounded and rasped the tenon shoulders to fit. Quicker and easier with the router for me.
Whichever way you go, just be sure to give the mortise an extra 1/16" depth to ensure the tenon seats fully, plus it'll give the glue squeeze-out a place to go.
