  • Straightening a Door

    Hi yall,

I recently picked up a set of cypress french doors that have been "dipped and stripped" and one of the doors is not straight.

The bow exists along one side, runs along the length (top to bottom) and at its greatest measurement is about 1/8" - 3/16" out of plumb.

Is there any way to straighten or flatten the door back to plumb?

I am willing to disassemble them completely to accomplish this.

I don't know much about the doors, but this sounds like a job for a well-tuned hand plane provided the door is solid, although a belt sander or power hand plane might do an acceptable job. A plane will give you a straighter edge.

I have cured the problem since this post, but I would love to hear your method.
