Most likely the pulleys are not exactly alligned. Double check to make sure that both the motor and arbor pulleys are in good alignment. The second thing to check is the parallelism of the motor shaft to the arbor shaft. If the motor looks as if its turned slightly inward compared to the arbor shaft you can shim it up with washers between the motor base and the motor mount plate on the two screws closest to the motor shaft.
