  • Plexiglass

I would like to make a clear plexiglass pulpit but have some concerns.
What glue must I use that it perfectly clear?
Is there any special note I should know of when building items with this?
I know you should keep the protective film on it until the final stages of assembly...

I say plexiglass but I think it may also be called something like "Polycarbonate" or "carbon...something"

Thanks for any help on this.

You can use CA (super glue) and it will work fine. Have you thought of maybe building a wood framework and using plexi for the panels.

I've actually done some work with plexigls, We built a fishtank filter for a large fish tank that we had in our shop and in orfer to save money we built it... anyway in order to make em' you use a CA style glue with a real small needle style tip and squezze it imbetween the pieces, then let it dry, and use a clear silicone caulk to seal up the edges and help stregthen them togehter

Acrylic or Plexiglas is actually PMMA (Poly Methyl Meth Acrilate). It is not glued it is actually a solvent based weld
Upon application it softens the edges and cause the molecules to become entagled after it is left to cure the solvent evaporates leaving a permanent bond.
I use plexi and lexan to build subwoofer boxes for car stereo, lexan is more durable much clearer and more expensive.
MDC(Methelene Di-Chloride)is the type of solvent I use all the time.
I would start looking for the solvent in hobby shops. Or when you go to get the plexi sheets just ask and they will give you the right solvent and how to apply it.

            Hope this helps.
