  • Plane Plans

My TIVO did away with the episode of woodworks with david marks where he built a plane out of wood. Before i could take some notes tivo deleted it. i was going to modify it. i want to make a "scraper plane". anyone know where i can find plans for such a thing?

    thanks

Good articles here under Know-How How to guides
Neat project but how do you plan to make the scraper angle adjustable in a wooden plane? Reason I ask is that I think it has to be adjustable to find the sweet spot angle for the burr, I think it would be almost impossable to roll a consistant burr to work at the exact bed angle of the plane wouldn't it? I am still learning to put a good edge on a scraper but so far the sweet spot angle always changes a bit between each burr.
This lee valley gadget may give you some ideas though, perhaps you could use it as the mechanism in the wooden body you make LV Scraper insert

Taunton Press has a brand new book out called "Working with Handplanes". In it are some plans for building wooden planes. I don't recall if one is a scraper plane or not but it has some good ideas in general.
