  • Casing an oval window

Hi, I have just had an oval window installed in a new home. Not thinking at the time I need to figure out to build the casing for it.

Anyone ever been in the same situation?

The window measure 18 by 30.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    GP

It may not exactly match all your other casing but one option would be to cut the oval out of 4 to 6 pieces of wider stock (1 X 12 poplar or whitewood) and miter them together to form the oval. Now you can machine the profile with templates and router bits

GP: Unless you have a custom casing, most window manufacturers (Of round and oval) usually have casings to match. Check with your installer or the window manufacturer.

One of the easy ways is to get a flexable casing. You Should be able to order the exact radius from a finish trim supplier, flexable trim comes in paint grade only. And most mills will build radius moldings for you if you want them in stain grade material.
