  • Question for D. Arbuckle

I am interested in adding the PALS TS alignment kit (the $21.99 trunnion bolt replacements) to my XMAS list...do I get the one for the Craftsman saws for my TS-2424?

I've got to go out to the shop in a few minutes and begin the trunnion adjustment...my blade is out ever so slightly in the back. I noticed it because after sharpening & cleaning the blade and aligning the fence, I still have the smallest saw marks (and I want none for this next project)!

    That's the one, Kelly.

Be prepared for a little frustration in installing. The instructions (assuming they haven't changed them) are almost worse than useless. If you look at the P.A.L.S., the installation is pretty obvious. If you look at the instructions, it is uncomprehensible.

You may need to drill a hole in the side of the saw cabinet for access with the allen wrench. The right one, facing the back of the saw, is extremely tight.

Instructions? Whazzat? Heck as long as there's a picture about how they are 'sposed to look, I'm good....do you like your PALS and does it really make it easier to adjust?

        The picture is iffy...

They work pretty well. Not unbelievably well, pretty well. If I were doing it today, like you are, I would take a hard look at ordering the rear microadjusting trunnion off a TS2424-1 or TS3612. They weren't available when I upgraded mine.

Thanks Dave...mine has the rear micro adjust set screws and it really wasn't all that hard...guess I'll stick with it the way it is and get something else.

Kelly, if you already have the microadjust trunnion, you have the same stuff anyway. I'm not sure P.A.L.S. would fit on your machine, I should have asked that first.
