  • stacked dado set for 2412 table saw

Is an 8 inch stacked dado set too large for the motor of the 2412
    table saw?

I was thinking of buying the Freud SD208 as I can get the SD206
for only slightly less, but if the 8 inch dado would over stress the
motor I see no major reason not to get the 6-inch.

How does the Oshlun SDS-0842 or the SDS-0630 compare with
the Freud ? I'd just as soon get the 6 if its going to be tough on
    the 2412.

I use the 6" in mine. I've had good luck with it.

One issue you might get with the 8" could be some wobble. To get a full stack on the arbor you have to leave the stabilizer off.

I can't say for sure but those blades are expensive enough that I just stuck with the recommendation for the tool.

While I know that the motor on your saw will spin the 8" dado set it certainly will not have to work as hard with a 6" dado set. I run the SD206 set on my TS3612 and so far haven't had a need for the greater depth that an 8" set would give me. My first dado set, I still have it, was the Harbor Freight 8" set. It is very heavy with full plate style chippers. My saw would spin it but occasionally it would trip the breaker when doing ¾" wide dados. Unless you plan on doing dado cuts that are greater than 1¼" deep, a 6" set will do just fine.

I got the Oshlun SDS-0620. It came with a case.

my 2412 spins an 8" freud with no problems at all.
there's a solution to every problem.....you just have to be willing to find it.

Even my little Delta 36-600 spun the 8inch SD208 and DW7670 with no problem. FWIW, the Delta/DeWalt 7670 leaves a cleaner cut, comes with a great carrying case, nicer shim stock, and isn't very much more.....$113 shipped from Amazon, Griz, and Ebay.
