I recently purchased an inexpensive older wood lathe. It has no name or markings on it. It may be a Craftsman made by Ridgid. It is a table top type with a 2 pipe bed. My problem is similar to mikem's post of 8-03-05. The tail stock center is not really a live center. It's just a free floating point that doesn't spin when tight to the work piece as it has no bearings. The tail stock does not have a Morse taper, just a 1/2x20 male thread with the point in its center. Anyone know where to get a live center with a 1/2x20 female thread? Or a way to convert to a Morse Taper or any other suggestions?
