• Tape Measure

Does anyone know where I might find a 1" x 12' or even a 1" x 10' tape measure that has markings every 1/16"? I've been able to find longer ones but I really don't need a 25' tape for in shop use and the smaller ones fit better in my hand.

Dave, the only one I know of is made by Stanley, Model# 30-466 it is 10' x1" and read in fractions. Home Depot and Ace hardware are supposed to carry it.

WB, Lee Valley was the first place I looked. I already checked that one out but it appears to me that it only has markings every 1/8".

Its hard to see in the pic but if I squint and look close at my laptop monitor I can see the 1/16" marks. Give them a shout they will tell you for sure

I can not find my product catalog, but i THINK Dead On tools makes a tape that goes down that small and is easy to read.

They also have a website but it took me some time to find and my computer crashed so I had to redo it. I am almost POSITIVE these go down to 1/16"

I know their HAMMERS and the EXHUMER is AWESOME!!!

WB, squinting must cause double vision. I got real close to my screen, squinted and also saw the 1/16" markerings. I then took your advice and called LV for confirmation. Guess what, the markings on the Blindmans Tape are every 1/8".

              The search continues.

Nope, not yet anyway. I did check out the local Home Depot and the one here doesn't stock that particular model. Ace Hardwares' are few and far apart around here and I haven't been near one lately to check there.

I just checked Craftsman and they show a 1/2 x 12 that looks like it measures to 1/16.

Can you use a 6ft folding stick rule?

plumber, I can find plenty of ½" and ¾" wide tape measures but I'm looking for one thats at least 1" wide. I can also find many 1" wide tapes but the rub is finding one thats in the neighborhood of 10' to 12' long.

"Can you use a 6ft folding stick rule?" - I've happily used and gone through a number of Lufkin Model 966 folding rules over the years and wouldn't be without one. For in the shop use though I find them harder to use than a tape measure.
