  • true 90 on a RAS?

OK, another question. Why doesn't Ridgid make the RAS so that the swingarm locks at 90 degrees? Otherwise, you are always trying to make sure it is right on the mark versus having it lock, like the bevel does at 90 and 180....

    Catman,

The RS1000 does have a 90º (or 0º) index on the miter arm. This is along with a 45º and 45º right index.

I understand there is a mark at 0 degrees. Issue is that this does not "lock" or "click" as do other settings for miters and bevels. Meaning 0 degrees could be off unless it is set just so.

If the miter arm is not indexing at the 0º mark then there is something wrong with your unit. Remove the stamped steel cover and look at the mechinism. At the rear of the arm there is two dogs that slide in and out to engage the index. If those dogs are not moving in and out when you pull the miter lock lever forward, make sure the connecting rod running from the dogs to the lever is in place and connected.

The miter arm should index at 0º and 45º left and right.

If you can't figure it out drop me an email.
