  • Sanding Discs

I need an assortment of 3" hook & loop wet/dry sanding discs. Looking at what's available, it appears that 5" is the more common size.

Can I simply purchase a 5" pack and trim it down to 3"? Sounds simple enough, but I didn't know if I would be doing something really odd?

As long as you purchased disc's without the suction holes (to match with a sander), you'd probably be okay, but what a waste of time and material. Go to Amazon and do a search of 3-inch hook and loop sanding disc, they're not all expensive for a variety pack. I didn't search for any particular 'grit' but you can probably buy them in selective grits too.

On reflection, you're probably right. After looking over the 5" discs, most of them are the "dustless" variety with the holes. And those holes are positioned just about where I would need to trim.
