I know there are several of you out there and I was wondering if you use any type of auxiliary sacrificial fence? I have been using the factory model and have noticed that following some use the face starts to deteriorate which then requires tweaking the Miter Gauge to keep it in square. So do you replace them quite frequently (cheap enough at $5), only use them during angled miters when the extra grip is desired, have a better homemade solution or not use them at all?

    Thanks

When I'm worried about tear-out, I just add my own sacrificial fence out of scrap 1x material. I've added 220 sandpaper with double sided tape in the past to increase friction, but rarely need to.

By the way, my instruction manual gives the wrong dimension for the counterbores on a aux. fence. If I recall, it said something like 9/16" and it wasn't close.
