  • Band Saw Riser Blocks

O.K. What is the deal with riser blocks. I'm sure one of the fellas has a website that explains the whole issue. I get the rough idea of it but would like some more detail. Is it even possible or Practical to put on a Delta 28-195C 10"?

    thanks

    Some info:

As for your saw, I am not sure if they make a riser block for it or not.

      Jake,

The riser is for a 14" saw and will not fit yours. The purpose of the riser is to raise the top wheel to allow it to cut items 12" high rather than 6". When resawing boards, the 12" capacity is needed since many boards are wider than 6". If you're not into resawing, there would be very few times that a riser would be beneficial.

I finally found a pic of your bandsaw (which I was unable to copy) and it looks like the column is one solid piece, therefore, ergo and forsooth, it is impossible (well, let's say impractical) to install a riser. Besides a 1/2 HP motor can only do so much, ya know.

I figured as much, since I'm interested in resawing.
I guess its time to upgrade the bandsaw.

hmmmm............ how will I get this one past the wife

          thanks all
