  • Dust Collection

I am still using the old shop vac for dust collection but tired of the noise and cleaning the filter all the time. Can anyone tell me which is the best stationary collection system for a weekend wood worker using the garage. And are these systems quiter than a shop vac??

Depending on how many machines you want to hook up to your DC either the ProTech 1HP DC, available at Menards, or the Harbor Freight 2HP DC should be able to satisfy your wants.

I have had the HF for a few years, it's a good choice. I do suggest getting 3 micron bags, tho. The stock 30 micron bags fill the shop with fine particles. Grizzly has the 3 micron bags at a decent price.

Oh, don't forget to find a HF 20% coupon. Just found one that expires Apr. 19:

          How to size

          Hi,

How do you determine what capacity of DC you need? I suppose the number of machines and how much hose/ducting you have are factors.
