  • Fun with the microDrain

Steve and I just found an old sales demo maze for the k-39 in one of our closets here. Steve thought it would be cool to try out the microDrain through it so we gave it a try. The maze is made of 1 1/2" clear pvc. Here is the list of turns it made. I only slowed up on the last 90 when it got caught on an edge but made it quickly through.

    1) P-trap
    2) 90
    3) 45
    4) 45
    5) 90
    6) 90
    7) 90
    8) 90

Just to be fair I did wipe the cable down with a little bit of armor all since it was dry pipe to help with friction.

Pretty good! And those are what we call "regular 90's" here. Shorter turn. Not drain 90's like I use in new installations called Long Sweep 90 (L.S.)

    Have you tried galvanized yet.

Not yet... I need to make a trip to Depot and but some fittings to test. This one was prebuilt for a different tool so I sent it through that one.

Still an impressive test to me. Good work developing the product.

I'm pretty jazzed about the MicroDrain too. Can't wait for it to hit the shelves.

Galv pipe on cast iron fittings will be tough sledding. It might just work though.

I'm still not sure what I'll be looking for inside a lavy drain? And when I do find out...what then?

I like the idea of using armor all on the camera!

Its good to use on our full size cameras as well. Especially if you have a worn push cable.

Try to see if it can go through a brass bathtub overflow to two galvanized 1-1/2 90's and see into the drumtrap. Even if you could do it, I'd be scared to do it when I own it.
