In practical applications the answer is no. you need the smaller diameter lines to allow you as much forward pushing as possible. in larger lines the microDrains cable has to brace against the walls of the pipe.
Bill could probably answer this one as far as 30' and how hard it is to push that far. It really depends on the system you are going through.
I have the 30 footer so I can't say for sure BUT... when I'm pushing mine I don't see much more resistance from say the 15 foot mark to the 30 foot. This being in straight pipe of course. Easier to push starting off in a smaller access than through a 4" cleanout.
The larger balls help with bigger pipe and use 2 at a time.
