  • 35153 Microreel first use.

Got it on Monday and got to try it out yesterday.
Ive used Spartan and General in the past but this Microreel makes doing inspections much easier. Its light weight and take up hardly any space in my truck.
My customer was expecting a huge monitor and wires all over her basement, when I pulled out the Microreel and started working she was very impressed.
When I was done with the inspection I plugged the Micro Explorer into her laptop using the USB port cable(her laptop didnt have a SD slot)and laoded the video right into her lap top.

So what did you do after the inspection? Was that a root obstruction ?could not see much under water? Did you snake the line before or after the camera inspection

          Re: 35153 Microreel first use.

She been having problems with the line for years. No, I myself did not snake that day or at any other time. The remarks written on the
receipts by other plumbers and mechanics from my company say nothing about bad spots or root. I recommended to let me snake the line but she didnt want it so I offered the camera to see what was going on. Once I went a few feet into the dip I pulled it back. From past experiences I didnt want to force the camera pass the dip due to the rist of getting stuck. It has happened before and had to use the 300 with a whip to jolt it loose. I wasnt going to take the risk with a brand new unit. She's sick of cleaning her basement apartment so we are replacing the line/bad spot/bad dip. Btw, its 4 inch clay, 2 foot sections.

The camera went in smooth and yes it did get a little hung up on that spot at the beginning. With a couple of little jolts and wiggles it freed up fast.

No counter, I usually mark the cable with tape(camera and machines) or push the cable back into the drum approximately 1 to 2 feet at a time while counting.

Seems like it could use brighter lights ? I've noticed this when using my microReel too. Are other model cameras so dark ?

Charging less does not mean more call volume it just means you have to work harder to reach your goals.

Pipe material and color of the pipe makes a big difference. Abs is more difficult to see than pvc.

                  Rick,
How is it in 6 inch clay? or Orangeburg ? PVC I'm sure it's fine
the first two are the most common here

This was one of my concerns when I was considering the microReel. Everything else seems great but the lighting sux

What would it have taken to beef up the lights a bit

AT, How well can you see the monitor picture on the explorer outside?

I haven't had the chance to use it outside. I'm thinking it's going to need to be in something like a cardboard box ?

6" pipe is too large for the push rod. Black is the most difficult color to camera. Dark colors absorb the lighting. Also camera spacers are important for large pipe.

If the lighting and visibility are poor that would stink! Because the micro drain set up would be ideal for smaller lines, tight spots and have my other camera for longer runs and could use the micro explorer as a recorder on my bigger camera. between the Vu-rite and Micro reel I could handle every drain inspection.

I'm really tring to fill the gap on smaller lines.
May 17th I get to check them out at the Road Show in Maine.
