Sure do wish there was a cover that would snap onto the top of the oil pan to keep the rain out of it. It would also need a place for the hose to go so that it would lay on the inside of the pan. Cover would need to be made out of sheet steel, I do not think plastic would last very long.
I myself prefer the old steel drip pan and the old thumb style pump. The reasons being that the plastic pans get broken pretty fast if something gets dropped in them.
Another problem I have with the old style thumb pump is the spout is made from a piece of rolled steel and leaks at the seam, this oil runs down on the handle and in general makes a mess.
