if there is a small leak and if it is not enough to keep it flowing but will freeze up like a large ice sickle, and plug up the drain, and if the water is used very little, if a load of wash or bath tub is filled and drained to heat it up to melt out the minimal that is froze,
I have a shallow drain that was used once for the washer, (with the washer on it it never froze up), but now all that is on it is a sink on the back porch, and unless I fill it with warm water and dump it, the minimal use will let it freeze up solid, in time.
