A Ryobi reciprocating saw would not be my first choice but brushing that aside, have you tried using less arm strength when using it and let the blade do the work? Oak is considered a hardwood but really isn't that hard so you shouldn't be having that much trouble cutting it into chunks. Personally, I use my bandsaw to cut up chunks of wood for smoking, if you have one of those you might want to give that a try.
