I purchased a Ridgid SP500 sump pump 5-18-2004 and installed it the next morning. It runs for about 30 seconds then rests for 1-3 minutes and cycles again. The new pump failed to start 2 times once on 5-20, and again on 5-22, so I returned it and got a new replacement at Home depot. I installed the new pump 5-22-2004 and it ran without issue until 5-31 and agian 6-1 when this pump failed to start. Each failure appeared to be related to the switch, just push down the switch and let go and the pump is up and running.
Has anyone else seen this problem, is there a bad batch of switches on new pumps? Should I replace it agian with the same model or go with a dipperent type like the pressure switch.
Currently I am affaid to leave the house unattended for more that a few hours(I get about an inch of water in the basement in 3-4 hours).
