The dial indicator is certainly a helpful tool and good old Harbor Freight is probably the cheapest place to get one. One other "TOOL" you might consider is a book by Mark Duginske. The name of the book is "Mastering Woodworking Machines". It's by Taunton press (Fine Woodworking) and will tell you how to set up every major tool in your shop. There is an accompanying video and I would highly recommend that you get this with the book. This is one book that just about every Woodworker could use (Norm excluded).
